If your responsibility is to be sure members and visitors experience a clean fitness center, golf club, sports complex or clubhouse, Office Pride can do the heavy lifting! If left unchecked, the spread of bacterial and viral contamination in facilities like these can create a petri dish for illness. Show members you care and encourage their continued attendance by hiring professionals to keep your sports complex clean.
Members or visitors to your fitness center have their own routines and habits. They need to train to follow protocols in place for the safety and cleanliness of those who share the space. Participants should have an actionable list of responsibilities before and after using equipment.
Signs should be easy to spot, and directions should be simple to follow. According to suppliers and health experts, you should place cleaning product stations strategically and prominently, along with trash receptacles, wipes refill bags and an area for sanitizer. Due to the high use of fitness gear and equipment, members are really an extension of your cleaning team.
Important Cleaning Terms for Sports Complexes
Yes. There’s a difference between cleaning and disinfecting. Cleaning removes dirt that you can see – dirt on the floor, dust on equipment, etc. It’s no longer enough to make your facility look clean; it needs to be thoroughly sanitized regularly to remove the dirt and germs you do not see. Routine disinfection helps reduce the germs that cause viruses such as COVID-19, flu and other respiratory illnesses. Understanding the terminology will help you accurately communicate with your commercial cleaning service.
Cleaning
This is when you are physically removing dirt and dust – typically with a cloth or wipe – in conjunction with a detergent, soap or solvent. Cleaning doesn’t kill germs, but it can remove some of them, lowering the risk of spreading infection.
Deep Cleaning
Deep cleaning is an intense cleaning process that includes removing dirt, dust and debris from areas that typically go unseen, like behind or under a large piece of gym equipment.
Disinfecting
This is the process of eliminating pathogens and disease-causing microorganisms through the use of chemicals. Disinfecting works by applying chemicals to surfaces or objects and allowing the chemicals to sit for the recommended amount of time to kill the germs.
Dwell Time
This is the amount of time a surface should be visibly wet with disinfectant in order to be most effective. Dwell times vary depending on the product. Read the product label to ensure proper use of a disinfectant.
Electrostatic Misting or Spraying
This technology is the new standard in infection control. Electrostatic sprayers and misters have provided a highly efficient method of applying commercial-grade disinfectants. This technology delivers an electric charge to the disinfectant solution to help the minuscule droplets adhere to surfaces.
EPA-Registered Disinfectants
These disinfectants are products that meet Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) criteria. The agency has identified a number of disinfectant products qualified for use against SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
Sanitizing
Sanitizing reduces germs to decrease the risk of infection but does not kill all viruses; it basically lowers the number of germs to a safer level. What is considered safe depends on public health standards for sports complexes.

Sports Complex Clean Locker Rooms
Unsanitary restrooms are the No. 1 maintenance complaint, a clear indicator that restroom and locker room cleanliness makes a memorable impression. Some commercial cleaners, like Office Pride, have a Touchless Sanitizing cleaning system, which removes soil, urine, germs, bacteria and other indoor pollutants that traditional methods could miss. The system is 60 times more efficient than wiping and mopping and eliminates odors, mold and mildew. Therefore, we can also use electrostatic sprayers or misters to disinfect the entire locker room.
Cleaning the Different Types of Flooring at Your Sports Complex
Clean floors are among the most frequently cited metrics in customer satisfaction surveys. Our state-of-the-art equipment, high-quality cleaning products and attention to detail will keep your fitness club or complex looking good.
Epoxy Floors
Daily sweeping and dust mopping will do the trick on your epoxy floors. By gently removing dust and dirt, we can mitigate the scratches on the flooring.
Rubber Floors
You’ll often find rubber floors in gyms with a weightlifting area or children’s play area. It’s durable and water-resistant. These should be swept and mopped daily. Occasionally, rubber floors will appear dull. When this occurs, the finish will be removed with a rubber floor stripper and then reapplied to restore its sheen.
Vinyl, Polyurethane and Hardwood Floors
High-speed burnishing helps restore shine and create a glossy appearance; the outcome provides a shiny “wet look.” This looks great on aerobic and multipurpose use gym floors. Burnishing can also repair imperfections on a floor’s finish that you can’t repair with daily maintenance. Therefore, it’s more efficient than low speed buffing, these machines tend to have higher rotation speeds, and more aggressive pads can be used to help restore a worn, dull finish to a smooth shine.
