Office Pride Recognizes Cleaning Staffs for Keeping Workers Safe
October 17, 2022 | AUTHOR: Office Pride
A lone day of recognition really isn’t enough to truly recognize the people in your office who are on the front lines each day keeping workplaces clean. Custodial workers are vital to the success of any business and Oct. 2 is set aside to recognize their vital contributions.
Each year on this day, companies celebrate National Custodial Workers Recognition Day. Here at Office Pride, we would like to thank the 23 million men and women across the U.S. who keep the places we work, shop, worship and play clean. They also keep our hospitals safe and our schools maintained. It’s often a thankless job that doesn’t come with much glitz or glamour. Day in and day out, they are the ones who keep our cleaning supplies and equipment – hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels – organized, in stock and at the ready.
Now more than ever, office employees are aware of the importance that custodial workers play in keeping the workforce healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. National Custodial Workers Recognition Day is a good time to take stock in the importance they play in each of our lives.
Office Pride locations throughout the U.S. employ a wide variety of full- and part-time cleaners. Many of them work part time and hold down other jobs on the side for various reasons. Some need extra money for a child’s music lessons, some want to make extra car payments, while others may just want extra spending money. Whatever their reason, they work hard to keep you safe.
Often, those who are part time feel overlooked. Take the time in the day to learn their names and who they are. Let them know they are appreciated and that they play a vital role in your workplace.
So, what else can you do to make your janitorial team feel appreciated on this national recognition day?
For starters, it’s a day when you might go out of your way to tell your office’s cleaning staff how much you appreciate their contributions and encourage other co-workers to do the same. The gesture doesn’t have to be much. While they will certainly appreciate gifts, there are many other ways to show your thanks.
Taking the time to pick up around your desk or going out of your way to keep your office area clean is a great way to show you care. Even a simple “thank you” means a lot. Maybe you can tell their supervisor what a good job they do for you, or how you notice how hard they work each day. They are workers, like you, who strive to do a good job each day and take pride in what they do.
Whatever the case may be, those of us at Office Pride would like to wish all custodial, cleaning and janitorial staff members around the country a Happy National Custodial Workers Recognition Day!
