What to do After a COVID-19 or Flu Exposure in Your Workplace
While many businesses have returned to pre-pandemic or hybrid operations, the COVID-19 virus and variants still pose a threat in many workplaces. The delta and omicron variants continue to see high rates of transmission, and employers must be alert to potential virus outbreaks among employees. Proactive cleaning helps reduce the threat of COVID-19 or seasonal flu cases, but a higher level of cleaning is vital after a positive exposure by an employee, client or visitor. Office Pride Commercial Cleaning Services has you covered.
Act Quickly
Time matters when you learn an employee or client has tested positive for COVID-19 or the flu and may have exposed your workplace. First and foremost, while respecting the individual’s confidentiality and observing HIPAA regulations, inform others who may have been exposed to be alert for symptoms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends closing off any areas the infected person used until those areas can be cleaned and disinfected.
Make sure that any in-house cleaning or maintenance staff members increase air circulation by opening doors and windows or using fans during the cleaning process. They should wear protective masks and gloves while cleaning and disinfecting the exposed space, focusing first on the desk and supplies of the infected person. Use disinfectant products recommended by the EPA, following recommended product dwell time, and vacuum with a device with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filter.
If you use a commercial cleaning company, immediately notify them and schedule a thorough cleaning as soon as possible. They should follow all the same steps. Also, ask your commercial cleaner about disinfection services, which are more intensive than routine cleaning. Inquire whether they recommend you take any additional steps to protect your workplace.
Disinfection Services
Office Pride’s commitment has always been to the health and safety of our clients and their employees. As requests for complete disinfection services have increased, Office Pride franchise owners have modified their service plans and invested in new equipment, such as electrostatic technology, to accommodate these requests. Electrostatic sprayers are the new standard in infection control. With proper usage, they can effectively disinfect both open and hard-to-reach areas and are safe to use around electronic equipment and sensitive devices.
Since the pandemic began, Office Pride customers have expressed more interest in higher visibility cleaning services. Your employees will appreciate seeing Office Pride’s uniformed and highly trained teams protecting their safety.
Office Pride’s professional cleaning services will ensure that your offices, reception areas, break rooms and restrooms are thoroughly disinfected with appropriate products and care.
