The Real First Impression: The Front Door to Your Tyler Office

African-American woman opening store, unlocking the door.It is easy to take the front door to your business for granted — but doors are seen, touched and used hundreds of times per day in an office building. People stand in front of the doors every day, perhaps to put their car keys away, shake off their umbrellas or finish a phone call. Is your commercial cleaning company making sure the first impression your customers receive is a sparkling one?

With so many people touching the door handles, they are especially prone to bacteria and germs. Keep your employees and customers protected with routine sanitizing. In addition to wiping the door handles regularly, it is important to make a great first impression with clean doors that lead into your business.

To clean any door, always start at the top, be sure to wipe down the frame, and work down. Then, follow these tips depending on the type of door.

Glass Doors

It is important to note that a glass door should not be cleaned when the sun is shining directly on it. Direct sunrays can cause the solution to dry quickly, resulting in streaks.

  • Wipe down the door with a microfiber cloth to loosen any dirt or dust.
  • Clean sills, hinges, door knobs and handles.
  • Protect frame or sills from possible solution drips.
  • Spray the solution, one section at a time, and rub glass in a circular motion.
  • Dry the glass with a squeegee, downward in a straight stroke.
  • Wipe with a dry cloth.
  • Buff the glass.
  • Wipe the edges of the pane with a soft, dry cloth.

For door tracks, start by vacuuming the slider to remove debris. Spray cleanser in the track and wipe clean. Complete by spraying the track with lubricant.

Wooden Doors

  • Inspect the door for any damage such as cracks, flakes, scratches and discoloring.
  • Wipe down the door with a microfiber cloth to loosen any dirt or dust.
  • Clean sills, hinges, door knobs and handles.
  • Spray cloth with a cleaning solution that is safe on wood and wipe in the direction of the grain.
  • Buff to remove excess cleaner and to dry the surface with a clean, lint-free cloth.
  • Wipe the edges of the pane with a soft, dry cloth.

Keep in mind that weather stripping should be replaced every few years and should be protected during cleaning.
