Partner with Your Englewood Cleaning Company to Create a Healthier Work Environment

Office Pride Cleaners

Your office’s main priority is to keep your business running and your employees and clients healthy in your workplace. Now more than ever, you must partner with a professional and reliable cleaning company to ensure that cleaning protocols are being followed.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided answers to FAQs for Healthy Business Operations and Cleaning and Disinfection of the Workplace. Your cleaning company should follow CDC recommendations and utilize progressive techniques to fight the germs and viruses that cause COVID-19, the flu and other respiratory illnesses.

H2: What My Cleaning Company Should Do

  • Follow OSHA’s Hazard Communication System.
  • Use products that meet the EPA’s criteria for effectiveness.
  • Follow recommendations from the CDC’s Guide on Cleaning and Disinfecting Your Facility, including (but not limited to):
    • Wear disposable gloves when cleaning.
    • Practice routine cleaning of surfaces using soap and water, then disinfectant.
    • Clean high-touch surfaces like tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, sinks, etc.
    • Follow label instructions to the letter for “dwell times,” which is leaving surfaces wet and letting them air dry.
    • Clean soft surfaces, like carpets, rugs and drapes, appropriately.
    • Routinely clean hard floors.

H2: What My Business Can Do

  • Educate employees on symptoms, schedules and expectations at the office.
  • Rearrange furniture/workstations, if necessary, for proper social distancing.
  • Preorder sufficient supplies like toilet paper, disposable masks, tissues, etc.
  • Consider wipeable covers on electronics.
  • Use labeled alcohol-based wipes or sprays with at least 70% alcohol.
  • Encourage employees to wipe down their own workstations, phones and keyboards frequently.
  • Encourage employees to use a tissue when touching elevator buttons. Place trash cans in or by the elevator so they can throw away tissues after every use.
  • Encourage employees to use tissues to touch buttons or touchscreens on the copy machine, microwave or other shared appliances/machines, or to wipe them down after use. Place tissues and disinfectant wipes in work rooms, kitchens and breakrooms.
  • Encourage employees to wipe down tables in the kitchen or breakroom before and after eating. Encourage wiping down conference tables before and after meetings.
  • Ask employees to avoid touching other employees’ phones, keyboards or desks.
  • Provide hand sanitizer in multiple locations.
  • Promote regular handwashing and post the CDC’s handwashing instructions.
  • Provide no-touch trash cans and light switches.
  • Communicate a clear cleaning plan: what your commercial cleaning company will do and how employees can be proactive between cleanings to keep the office safe.

Some businesses are designating and training occupational health and safety officers. They will be instrumental in communicating with staff and your commercial cleaners.
